Skiing experience under the stars...

10.11.2019—31.3.2020

Forest skis are the traditional method of traveling in Scandinavia and northern Russia. They have been used for thousands of years, and are still part of the finish soldiers basic gear. The skis we use nowadays in "Arctic Horizons ltd" are just the modern evolution of those skis. They are actually a mix between skis and snowshoes, are relatively short, and are coming with universal cross country skis bindings (you can use them with regular hiking boots). Forest skis are meant to be used off tracks, so we make our own route ! Alone in the wild...

The idea behind this program is just to enjoy the utter silence of the Lappish night and starlit landscapes, while skiing slowly middle of nowhere... with some luck, the northern lights will join us during our trip, transforming our night skiing adventure into an unique, mystical experience!!

You can book this program (by phone) until 18.00 of the very same day, so that we are pretty sure to ski under a clear, open sky.

I pick you from your accommodation in Luosto at 20.00, and we drive to the beginning of our skiing trip. We will ski mostly on those vasts frozen swamps in the Pyhä-Luosto national park, who are just incredibly beautiful under the stars and the moonlight. I will pull a sled with some firewood and a small fireplace, so we can take a confortable break, and enjoy some warm drinks during our evening.

Duration : 3h (from 20.00 to 23.00) available only on TUE, THUR, SAT, and SUN.

Price : 120€+30€/person ( 90€/pers. if 2 participants, 80€/pers. if 4 participants....)

Includes :Hot beverage and cookies/pastry, skiing equipment, car transport, head lights, a small bubbly surprise.

IMPORTANT : For more information about our forest skis, visit our website www.arctic-horizons.com (winter programs>forest skis activities>what are forest skis), you will also see how to combine 2 activities in the same day, and find a lot of other useful information : when/how to find northern lights, what kind of clothes to wear during the Lappish winter, What are the different Lappish winterS...
