Arrival via Arctic Circle
Pyhä is located in the eastern Lapland of Finland. The closest airport in Rovaniemi, located at the Arctic Circle, has several daily flight connections (Finnair, Norwegian). There is a regular bus service available to the resort and it takes about 2 hours (130 km). Private transfers can be also booked. Kittilä and Kuusamo airports has also several connections but no regular bus service to Pyhä ski resort, private transfers and car rental are available. Free parking is provided all over the resort for those who arrive by car.
Ski in ski out accommodation
At Pyhä, you won’t be wasting valuable training and recovery time to transfers between the slopes and home base since all our accommodations are located right next to the slopes. The training guests can choose their place of stay between a hotel and apartments. There is an airconditioned equipment service room in the hotel and in each apartment building. Apartments include heated drying closets for gear. The hotel and each apartment also has a sauna for recovery and relaxation.
Versatile slopes and training courses
Pyhä offers challenging and alternating slopes for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. FIS homologated Piste Palander is our number one training course and a regular venue for Finnish alpine championships (Slalom and GS). It can serve between two to three training groups at a time. The Polar slope, located nest to Piste Palander offers also versatile skiing and riding profiles.
Pyhä is well known for its high standard SBX/SX training courses and camps. Many of the best snowboarders in the world, including Olympic champions, prefer Pyhä as their early season training resort. The profile of the training slope, called Polar madness, has been specifically shaped the SBX / SX needs in mind.
The course is built every winter in co-operation with the talented and experienced Pyhä grooming team and the course manager Juha Guttorm from the Finnish Snowboardin Federation. Team officials and riders are welcome to join in during the building phase. We are always happy to listen to our guests. We are also happy provide other sevices, for example practice area for start training and glide test area for boards.
Easy booking and daily captain meetings
The training times can be easily booked on Pyhä website. During the training camps the trainig times are agreed in daily captain meetings.
Room for everybody
Pyhä can offer training times to all groups, regardless the level or status of the team. In the busiest seasons the lifts are opened earlier than normal for the training teams.
Just like everything else at Pyhä, our staff is always close by to help the teams with their needs and questions. During the training camps we have designated camp manager working with the teams. Our goal is that the athletes can always maximize their time on what is most important: training and recovering.
One of the best parts of training at Pyhä is the efficiency it provides for the athletes. The 6-persons detachable chair lift with wind protections bubbles takes up to the mountain in about 5 minutes and keeps you warm.
There is a well equipped gym with exceptional views located in the Pyhä hotel and it is available for all the athletes training at Pyhä. The gym includes a separate stretching area. Saunas and showers are available right next to the gym. Kylmähoito. Certified physiotherapy and massage services are also available at Pyhä.
