A lift ticket is required for all programs, as the workshops will use the lifts to move around. For the extra backcountry tour on Sunday, you will need at least a single lift ride, as the national park tour starts from the top of the ski resort, which is accessed by lift.
You will also need to bring a backpack and avalanche safety equipment (avalanche transceiver, probe, and shovel) for the duration of the event. Pyhä can assist with renting avalanche safety gear if needed.
Make sure you have insurance that covers riding outside of groomed slopes.
For freeride equipment, slightly wider skis or a wider snowboard are ideal for riding off-piste, but you can also use the gear you’re used to. If needed, you can rent equipment from Pyhä's Kultakero rental shop. The equipment is limited, but we will do our best to ensure everyone gets the right gear.
Participants in Mimmit 1 and 2 groups will only need touring gear (gear that allows uphill movement) if they are going on the extra backcountry tour on Sunday. Touring gear includes touring skis with skins, splitboard with skins, or snowshoes with telescoping poles.
Participants in the Mimmit 3 group must have touring gear with them throughout the event. You should have previous experience using touring gear and be comfortable with it. The gear must be your own or something you’ve used before.
Please bring a water bottle and some snacks, like energy bars, in case you need an energy boost.
Make sure you have a helmet and ski goggles.
Wear active outdoor clothing suitable for physical activity. For Sunday’s backcountry tour, it's recommended to bring an extra jacket for breaks.
Important! Snowboarders going on the backcountry tour with snowshoes will need a backpack that can hold the snowboard while climbing. Snowboarders must have telescoping poles that can be collapsed during the descent.
If the weather is sunny on Sunday’s backcountry tour, don’t forget your sunglasses.
