Slope safety

On the slopes, everyone is responsible for slope safety – by following the rules, everyone enjoys and feels safe. Ski Patrol operates on Pyhä's ski slopes and their job is to take care of the slope safety.

Slope rules are an essential part of safety and enjoyment in the ski resort. They ensure that the slopes remain safe for all users, allowing everyone to enjoy skiing and snowboarding with peace of mind and respect for others.

On the slopes of Pyhä, Ski Patrol operates with the mission of monitoring and enhancing slope safety. Ski Patrol provides guidance and advice, conducts preventive slope and safety measures, and handles first aid and rescue operations. They navigate the slopes on skis or snowmobiles, and they’re easily recognizable by their red, black and yellow uniforms.

If an accident occurs on or off the slopes and first aid is required on-site, report the incident to a lift attendant at the base station or contact the slope patrol at +35810 382 5052. In cases of serious accidents, always call the emergency number 112 first.

The Pyhä area is also served by the Tunturi Medical Center, where Ski Patrol can transport the injured if necessary. For accidents occurring within the national park, always report to the emergency number 112.

SLOPE RULES

1. Make sure your equipment is adjusted to your size, weight and ability. Use of a helmet is recommended.

2. Respect the lift line and prepare to share the lift with fellow skiers. Get off the lift only at designated areas.

3. Select the slope and adapt your speed according to your skills. Always familiarize yourself with special areas in advance.

4. Keep your distance when you pass the skiers below and ahead of you. The descending skier watches out for other skiers. Pay additional attention to small children.

5. Stop only at places where you can be easily seen. If you need to go uphill, always do it along the edge of the slope.

6. Adapt your speed according to your skills. Pay attention to local slope and snow conditions. 

7. Sledging is only allowed in separately designated areas.

9. Using the slopes under the influence of alcohol/drugs is prohibited. 

10. In the event of accidents, your duty is to assist. Report any accidents immediately to ski area staff.

In addition, please note the following when moving on the slope area:
Carrying a child in a backpack on the slopes and in the lift is strictly forbidden. A child in the lift must use the necessary equipment for skiing.
 

Snow park rules

  • Always familiarize yourself with the Street/Park in advance.
  • Make sure the landing area is free.
  • Stop only at places where you can be easily seen. Never stop in the landing hill.
  • Select the street according to your skills.
  • Consider the snow conditions and the environment.
  • Keep your distance when you pass the skiers below and ahead of you.

Other ski resort rules

  • Ski touring on marked slopes and ski resort areas is prohibited.
  • Pets are not allowed on the slopes.
  • Do not enter a closed slope.
  • Do not enter a slope outside the opening hours.
  • Keep a sufficient distance to machines and snowmobiles moving on the slopes.

COPTER CAMERAS, DRONES

It is forbidden to fly drone in the Pyhä slope area.

Zero Tolerance for Bullying

 


 

We want to remind everyone that any form of bullying is strictly prohibited on Pyhä’s slopes. Our slope staff have the right to deny lift access to anyone behaving inappropriately.

If you are being bullied:
You can always report it to our slope staff, for example, at the lower lift stations. Our team will always take action.

If you witness bullying on the slopes:
Don’t look the other way. Ask what’s happening. If needed, get another adult involved. If necessary, inform the slope staff.

Zero Tolerance for Hate Speech, Harassment, and Racism

We do not tolerate any form of hate speech, harassment, or racism.

If you experience hate speech, harassment, or racism:
You can always report it to our slope staff, for example, at the lower lift stations. Our staff will always take action. You should never have to accept racism, harassment, or hate speech directed at you.

If you witness hate speech, harassment, or racism:
Show support to the person affected—let them know that such behavior is not acceptable and that they are not alone. If necessary, contact the slope staff. Our team has the right to intervene and prevent the offender from using the lifts.
